Bio
Lou Armagno grew up in an rural area outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up in an Italian family, he helped his Nonno (grandfather) farm the fields and at the age of 10 often spent days on the family roadside stand, selling fruits and vegetables to passing motorists. This was a great time to read all those comic books (xMen, Flash, Daredevil, etc.) Along with these Lou's mother read every night, classics like: The Prince and The Paulper, Robin Hood, Treasure Island which further encouraged his love of reading. His passion for mystery fiction, however, took hold in high school where he was hooked after reading his first Sherlock Holmes novel.
Following high school a 40-year trek with the U.S. Air Force took him around the globe as a military postal specialist. He lived abroad the majority of those years in several countries, including Taiwan, Germany, and Japan. And as a military postal inspector he visited a multitude of locations throughout Europe and the Far East. The final 14 years of his career though were spent as a civil servant in Honolulu, Hawaii. There he began researching the very streets and locations where Ohio Author Earl Derr Biggers first placed his character and set many of the scenes for his six Detective Charlie Chan novels.
Lou has been a postman, a stained glass craftsman, a jazz singer, songwriter and currently resides—once again—just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. He plans to continue his research and writing on all things related to one of America's first legendary fictional detectives—Charlie Chan.
